Over 73 arrests for child abuse
- July 1, 2022
Law enforcement have conducted a coordinated series of arrests from the use of CRC Technology.
Operation Protected Childhood took place in Brazil, Panama, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay, and the United States. More than 160 search warrants were executed in raids by over 800 law enforcement officers as proactive investigations continue to take the fight to those who are trading images and videos of children being sexually abused.
There will be a huge amount of follow up work by digital forensics investigation specialists to confirm the full range of crimes against children and to identify new victims.
Glen Pounder of Child Rescue Coalition said:
“We continue to proudly support the work of our law enforcement colleagues in this area. We also continue to be amazed at the determination of Brazilian law enforcement to work with Homeland Security Investigations and with international law enforcement partners to coordinate arrests in multiple locations across seven different countries.
That this is the ninth in a series of operations speaks to the scale of the challenge to tackle this horrific crime. Over 1600 search warrants and almost 600 arrests have taken place within Operation Protected Childhood but there is still more work to do.”
