Ashley Marshall Carter, a 41 year old man from Coffee County Georgia, faces a prison term following an investigation using CRC Technology.
Carter was  identified after a police officer working in a Homeland Security Investigations (H.S.I.) Task Force started investigating a suspect’s activity during his CRC training course. The officer was able to establish that Carter’s IP address  – the electronic address connecting to the Internet – was involved in the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Unlike many criminals arrested in connection with this crime Carter decided to plead not guilty but he was convicted following a trial in Georgia.
HSI continue to target predators who sexually assault children.
“Finding, arresting and prosecuting those who are involved in the creation, collecting and or distribution of these disturbing images of child exploitation is one of our highest priorities, because of the devastating effects it has on our communities,” said Special Agent in Charge Katrina W. Berger, who oversees Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) operations in Georgia and Alabama. “We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to ensure these predators face justice and that our children are protected.”
