CRC Technology Used in Case Leading to 12-Year Sentence for CSAM Possession
- January 9, 2015
CRC Technology played a crucial role in helping Arizona law enforcement identify Donald Turk, who was convicted for possessing and sharing 644 files of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Using CRC Technology, investigators from the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office located Turk, who had been using his neighbor’s Wi-Fi to avoid detection.
Search warrants executed in 2014 uncovered disturbing content on Turk’s devices. He later admitted to downloading CSAM. On January 7, 2015, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison and lifetime probation, and will be required to register as a sex offender.
CRC Technology provides the most comprehensive view of where child predators around the world are downloading and sharing explicit content online.
Attorney General Mark Brnovich and Representative Paul Boyer are working to expand ICAC’s capacity with $4.5 million in proposed funding, aiming to stop predators before more children are harmed. “Children can’t protect themselves. This is where we need to be,” said Brnovich.
