BSO ICAC Investigation with CRC Tech Support Leads to Arrest in Child Sexual Exploitation Case

  • February 20, 2026

An Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) has resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old man on charges related to child sexual exploitation.

Between November 2025 and January 2026, detectives assigned to BSO’s ICAC Unit launched a focused investigation into the alleged possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Through investigative work and with the support of CRC Technology, detectives identified multiple IP addresses associated with illicit file activity.

On February 20, 2026, BSO detectives executed a residential search warrant in Plantation, Florida. During the operation, investigators seized multiple electronic devices, including computers, cellular phones, and external storage devices. An on-scene forensic preview conducted revealed more than 20 files depicting child sexual abuse material involving young children.

Joshua Brey was arrested and charged with:

  • Ten (10) counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material
  • One (1) count of Use of a Computer to Compile Child Sexual Abuse Material

Additional charges are pending.
