A 54-year-old faces a prison sentence if he is convicted following an arrest by child protection officers.

 
Using CRC Technology police were able locate and identify a suspect who was trading images and videos involving the sexual abuse of children.

Humberto Ratemberg, who had a job in local government, will now face charges in relation to the sexual abuse of children while investigators also review which other crimes he may have been involved in.

In 2012 Ratemberg was suspected of raping two 11-year-old children over the course of a year but the allegations were not proven.

COO Glen Pounder: “Although the previous allegations against this suspect were not proven it is my opinion that anyone who is in possession of and sharing horrific images and videos of children being sexually abused is a dangerous criminal and a threat to any child they come into contact with. I am very grateful to our law enforcement specialists for putting themselves in harm’s way in order to protect those who can’t protect themselves.”
