How CRC Technology Helped Expose a Predator: The Case of James Robert Desilva

  • February 13, 2015

CRC Technology helped identify the predator: James Robert Desilva, 51, a former IT specialist for the Arizona Department of Real Estate, who was later sentenced to five years in prison and lifetime probation after pleading guilty to three counts of attempted exploitation of a minor.

The charges stem from a 2011 tip linking his IP address to the sharing of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Investigators faced challenges accessing encrypted devices, but eventually Desilva was identified as the source.

Desilva must also register as a sex offender for life.
