Renewed Hope Act Reintroduced to Strengthen Child Protection Efforts

Representative Laurel Lee (R-FL) has reintroduced the bipartisan Renewed Hope Act, co-led by Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), to strengthen the federal government’s ability to identify children depicted in child sexual abuse material (CSAM). A far-reaching investigation led by the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) has resulted in the arrest of an international offender and the rescue of a young girl who was allegedly being sexually abused. The case began in mid-summer 2025 when detectives with the PSLPD Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit identified a suspect seeking to exchange child sexual abuse material and connect with other offenders online.
