13,000 CSAM files but zero jail time
- June 1, 2022
Police who investigate child sexual abuse face some of those most difficult work in law enforcement.
In this case police used CRC Technology to identify a German businessman who had accessed horrific images and videos of prepubescent children being sexually abused and raped.
Some legislation still calls this “child pornography”, we call it what it is, child sexual abuse material or “CSAM“.
The children victimized in this material are real people, some of whom are now adults, who know that the worst moments of their lives are being consumed by criminal pedophiles around the world.
Despite the serious nature of this crime the German Sascha Hunsinger, who was living in England when he committed these crimes, will serve no jail time, and instead received a suspended sentence. His defense lawyer claimed he didn’t know trading in this material was illegal.
The Judge in the case commended the criminal Hunsinger’s courage.
“You have returned knowing that I might have been forced to impose imprisonment. That takes courage on your part.”
Bill Wiltse, CRC President said: “At Child Rescue Coalition we believe it takes courage for survivors of child sexual abuse to try and move forward in reconstructing their lives.
We believe it takes courage to do the difficult and dangerous job carried out by law enforcement officers and agents who put themselves in harm’s way to protect other people’s children and bring child abusers to justice.”
