Meet Ngaire Alexander: Fighting Online Child Exploitation through Operation Artemis
We’re excited to introduce Ngaire (pronounced Nyree) Alexander, Child Rescue Coalition’s (CRC) newest Special Project Consultant. Ngaire joined CRC in June 2024 and is already making an impact through her work on Operation Artemis, a vital initiative aimed at combating online child sexual abuse and exploitation. With over 14 years of experience in law enforcement and a passion for child protection, Ngaire is committed to safeguarding vulnerable children and supporting her team in tackling these critical issues.
A Career Rooted in Child Protection and Justice
Ngaire’s career began at Norfolk Constabulary, where she served for 14 years and quickly found her passion in child protection. She was promoted early in her career to Detective Sergeant. In this role, she led the Safeguarding Children Online Team, using CRC’s core technology to identify and investigate online offenders—many of whom held positions of trust.
“I absolutely loved this team and this role—it holds a really special place in my heart,” Ngaire shares. During this time, she also implemented vital support systems to help her colleagues manage the emotional toll of dealing with child sexual abuse material (CSAM) daily, ensuring the team could continue their crucial work with the care and resources they needed.
Her career continued to progress when she was promoted to Detective Inspector, allowing her to return to the online safeguarding team she had led and developed, while also working on national initiatives to improve police responses to child protection.
Throughout her time in law enforcement, Ngaire was recognized for her leadership and dedication, receiving commendations for leading difficult cases, including two complex familial child sexual abuse investigations that resulted in nearly 20-year sentences for the offenders. Although proud of these recognitions, Ngaire is quick to emphasize that her motivation has always been to protect vulnerable children and bring justice to those who need it most.
“I was always motivated by justice,” she says. “It was important to me to be doing something meaningful that could make a difference. Protecting and safeguarding vulnerable children from horrendous situations gave me a fire in my belly.” This drive to protect children and bring offenders to justice is what led Ngaire to CRC, where she continues to make a difference on a global scale.
Leadership Through Trust and Tenacity
Ngaire is known for her ability to blend determination with compassion in her leadership. A self-described “let’s get it done” person, she is also deeply committed to creating an environment where her team feels supported and valued. “It’s really important to me to identify what people need to succeed,” she explains. Having led teams in highly demanding and emotionally challenging roles, she knows that fostering trust and flexibility is key to building a successful team.
Now, as a Special Project Consultant for CRC, Ngaire is channeling this leadership style into Operation Artemis. Her goal is to ensure the initiative is as effective as possible in disrupting online child sexual abuse offenders and protecting children on a global scale. “I can’t believe my luck that I’m working for CRC, protecting children on a global scale,” she says.
Balancing Work, Family, and Personal Joys
While her work is undoubtedly important, Ngaire finds balance by spending quality time with her family and friends. Together, they enjoy being outdoors, whether it’s walking through the woods, exploring the beach, or hiking in the countryside. At home, Ngaire loves to reconnect and relax by cooking a traditional Sunday roast—a favorite family tradition—and unwinding with a good TV series.
As a parent to young children, Ngaire feels a personal responsibility to create a safer world for future generations. She strives not only to protect children through her work but also to model the importance of doing good for others and working hard to make a positive impact.
Her mission is clear: protect as many children as possible.
Please join us in welcoming Ngaire Alexander to the Child Rescue Coalition family. We’re excited to see the incredible work she will accomplish through Operation Artemis and beyond!
