10 Sep Child Protection Group Calls in Lobbying Support
Child Rescue Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse, has inked a pact with government consulting firm Eris Group to advocate on law enforcement matters in Washington.
CRC has developed a proprietary technology, CPS, that identifies, monitors and compiles records of online child predators.
That partnership makes it possible for investigators to target child predator suspects based on the type of material downloaded or shared in their jurisdiction, and will allow investigative teams across different jurisdictions the ability to collaborate as they share information on other predators. The Boca Raton, FL-based nonprofit in June announced that it had integrated its data with Waterloo, Ontario-based digital investigation platform Magnet Forensics, whose flagship software allows digital forensics examiners to analyze evidence from smartphones, cloud services and computers.
CRC has retained Eris Group to raise awareness of the nonprofit’s technology and to advocate for its increased use by domestic and international law enforcement units, according to lobbying registration documents filed with Congress in September.
A two-member team manages the CRC account: Chris McCannell, who was previously chief of staff to former Brooklyn/Staten Island Congressman Mike McMahon (D-NY) and Democratic Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY), as well as a press secretary to Democratic whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Rep. Paul Kanjorkski (D-PA); and Doyle Bartlett, former chief of staff to Rep. Bill McCollum (R-FL)
Eris Group, the private consulting firm formerly known as Bartlett & Bendall, counts Capital One, Western Union, Nike, PayPal, Lyft and the U.S. Travel Association as clients.
