Cary Man Sentenced to 21 Years in Prison

  • May 25, 2018

A Cary man on Thursday was sentenced to more than two decades behind bars for creating child pornography. Adam Geoffrey Frankel, 33, plead guilty to manufacturing child pornography in December after a 2014 investigation uncovered he had been downloading and sharing videos from his home. Authorities said Frankel communicated with underage girls and solicited them to perform sexual acts on camera. He also had more than 130,000 images containing child pornography on multiple computers, police said.

Frankel will spend 21 years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. In addition to the prison sentence, Frankel will forfeit his Belrose Drive home, as well as the computer equipment used to make the videos.

“This defendant victimized several children with his production of pornography as well as his distribution and receipt of an incredible volume of pornography produced by others. This sentence should be a warning to others engaged in this horrendous conduct. We will not tolerate the victimization of our children, and we will seek lengthy punishment for this behavior,” U.S. Attorney Robert J. Higdon said in a statement.
